I know that engine can be put into a RWD application. I haven’t found if the driveline will fit. The engine would definitely fit. It’s not within my realm of possibility anytime soon....but still.

Sounds good in theory but unless you can mount the transmission at the back I feel like it would be too heavy and spoil the balance of the car.

If I remember currently you can use one of the bellhousings from a older ford van to make it work. Wouldn’t be heavyier than the V8s being put into these.

An aluminum L33 5.3 weighs around 500lbs according to google. The 1.8L miata engine is around 290, and the 3.2L SHO is a little under 500 if you keep all the extra shit on it.

If that’s the case I hope they are stronger than the SHO transmissions.

That’s one of my dream engine swaps. Though, I fear the M5OD truck transmission would kind of ruin it... It shifts like, well, a truck transmission.

Yeah that put a damper on things if there’s no way to make it better

I just really want a SHO engine in something RWD... Why couldn’t they have at least dropped it into a Mustang?! :(

I need it in something RWD, FWD really holds it back.

I bet, it’s cool that they put it in a Taurus, and I want to own a SHO sometime, but it definitely seems like a motor that deserves better

I have pondered a thunderbird SC drivetrain swap into a NA. The monster miata uses the 8.8 IRS from the tbird. I can’t imagine a supercharged 3.8 v6 is any wider than a 5.0L v8. seems to me if you had a complete donor tbird this might be a “relatively” easy swap.

I could see it working. I’m not crazy about V6 engines, but a SHO is the exception.
